Introduction

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader for the position of Business Unit Head. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive the growth and strategic direction of a key business division.

As Business Unit Head, you will oversee the P&L, sales strategies, and organizational management, and collaborate on product development efforts, all while ensuring a sustainable and profitable business trajectory.

About the Role

The Business Unit Head will be responsible for shaping and executing strategies that drive business growth and innovation. This role requires an individual with extensive experience in sales, marketing, and organizational leadership within the medical device or healthcare industry. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the position will require a strong ability to manage and develop both people and business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Business Growth & Strategy:
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies for growth.
  • Oversee the overall P&L, including sales, contribution margin (ROI), and headcount management.
  • Respond to market dynamics and industry changes with innovative strategies.
  • Develop annual budgets and structure profitable customer deals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and business partners to drive sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Sales & Marketing Leadership:
  • Lead the sales and marketing teams to achieve revenue goals and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop marketing plans that build customer preference and drive volume.
  • Maintain market segmentation to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Direct product development efforts and collaborate on new product initiatives to address market needs.
  • Organizational Leadership:
  • Build and maintain a strong, dynamic organization aligned with core values.
  • Hire, develop, and retain top talent, creating a diverse leadership pipeline.
  • Foster an inclusive workplace environment and drive employee engagement.
  • Oversee training and skill-building programs to ensure continuous employee development.
  • Implement robust talent management programs to support succession planning and career growth.
  • Compliance & Ethics:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements.
  • Monitor and manage corporate affairs compliance, ensuring ethical standards are maintained.

Requirements

  • Experience & Skills:
  • Proven track record in managing and growing businesses within the healthcare industry, particularly medical devices, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in sales and marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, with a hands-on approach and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Strong command of both English and Japanese, with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively in both languages.
  • Experience with matrix management and working across multiple organizational entities.
  • Leadership Qualities:
  • High energy, aggressive mentality, and a quick decision-maker who takes decisive action.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and capable of fostering an environment of openness and trust.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to inspire and bring out the best in employees.
  • Compliance & Analytical Skills:
  • Deep understanding of clinical data and its role in product marketing and sales.
  • Experience with legal and corporate compliance within the healthcare sector.
