About the Role:

We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to play a pivotal role in projects centered on recommendations, search, natural language processing, and image processing. This role involves close collaboration with product teams from the planning stage to ensure that the systems meet product goals and continuously improve metrics.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product teams to define project objectives, evaluation criteria, and outcomes.
• Conduct hands-on analysis, build prototypes, and refine project understanding to ensure success.
• Select, design, and implement machine learning technologies, considering trade-offs like performance, cost, and lead time.
• Share knowledge and project updates using dedicated information sharing tools.

Requirements:

• General software engineering knowledge and experience in backend application development.
• At least 2 years of full-time work experience.
• Experience with advanced algorithms in machine learning, search, recommendation, natural language processing, or image processing.
• Strong communication skills to discuss and define project outcomes with product managers and stakeholders.
• Fluent in Japanese and business-level English.

Optional Conditions:

• Experience leading machine learning projects and making technical decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Knowledge in statistics, machine learning, A/B testing, and relevant tools and frameworks.
• Technical skills in data processing, including SQL and Python.
• Experience with ML services, infrastructure, and operating large-scale systems.
