Dear Readers,

Recently, a CHRO asked me what has kept me motivated after 20 years in executive search and recruitment.

I reflected on my journey and realized it’s not just the variety of roles or industries I’ve worked across—it’s also the deeper impact and the ongoing learning that make this career so fulfilling.

I started in research, which gave me a foundation of analytical rigor and an appreciation for understanding markets and organizations. Moving to contingent recruitment, I learned the fast-paced, results-driven side of the industry. Then, transitioning to executive search, I developed a more consultative approach, focusing on building trusted partnerships with clients and candidates.

Over time, my own career evolved—from delivering on individual searches to managing searches for entire organizations. Since founding my own company, I’ve had the privilege of overseeing every aspect of the business: HR, finance, marketing, technology, and hiring. This holistic perspective keeps the work fresh and challenging, and it’s deeply satisfying to shape the direction of the company while maintaining the quality of service we provide to clients.

What’s most rewarding, though, is the sense of purpose in the work itself. I get gratification from knowing I’ve made a tangible impact:

  • Helping organizations—whether startups, SMEs, or global giants—grow, turn around, or achieve their goals by finding the right leaders.
  • Supporting candidates in propelling their careers, sometimes unlocking opportunities they never considered or didn’t believe were within reach.

Another aspect that resonates deeply with me is the human connection and lifelong learning. Every conversation with a leader or candidate is an opportunity to learn something new—whether it’s about their industry, their leadership philosophy, or their personal story. These interactions broaden my perspective and deepen my appreciation for the diversity of human experience.

Moreover, executive search requires constantly adapting to new challenges, technologies, and market dynamics. I thrive on staying curious and staying ahead—whether it’s helping clients navigate disruptions like digital transformation or guiding candidates through evolving career landscapes.

Finally, there’s something profoundly motivating about being a steward of trust. Organizations entrust me with their leadership needs, and individuals place their careers in my hands. This sense of responsibility pushes me to always deliver excellence and makes the work feel meaningful, even after two decades.

In essence, executive search combines what I love most—making an impact, lifelong learning, human connection, and the opportunity to grow alongside others. That’s what keeps me going.

Warm regards,
