Machine Learning Engineer
We are currently supporting a search for an IT Manufacturing Application Engineer within the semiconductor industry. Our client is looking for someone to connect the manufacturing floor with IT and to drive the digitalisation of its production operations. This is a permanent position based at the Tokyo head office.
About the Role
In the semiconductor industry, reliable production execution and accurate production records depend on well-run systems. In this role you will introduce, improve and maintain business applications centred on a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), the system that manages production execution and results. You will connect these applications with core systems such as ERP and take part in international projects that include overseas sites, supporting business transformation across the manufacturing domain. Our client takes an active approach to AI and AI-assisted development, and you are expected to become a future core member in this area while bringing new technologies into daily work.
Responsibilities
MES Implementation and Enhancement * Implement and customise the Manufacturing Execution System to meet manufacturing needs * Carry out large-scale modifications to the MES * Maintain the system to keep production operations running smoothly
System Integration * Design integrations between the MES and core systems such as ERP * Implement integrations with surrounding systems
Requirements and Design * Gather business requirements through discussions with stakeholders * Define requirements and translate them into business and system designs
Cross-Site Project Coordination * Coordinate and drive projects across overseas and domestic sites and related departments * Manage external vendors and negotiate with them
User Support and Operations * Provide user support after implementation * Improve operations based on user and business feedback * Deliver training to users
Requirements
- Around 3 to 5 years of combined experience in MES implementation or development and enterprise system development (more is welcome); experience in both fields is assessed together
- Experience implementing IT systems on a medium to large scale; international project experience is a plus
- Knowledge of programming languages and databases at a level suited to hands-on implementation, as the role involves large-scale MES modifications
- English at roughly TOEIC 800, with the ability to coordinate and negotiate independently with overseas colleagues; if you are not there yet, strong motivation to reach this level is welcome
- The ability to collaborate across overseas and domestic sites
- A self-starting attitude, with the initiative to identify issues and the drive to see decisions through to completion
- Preferred: IPA information technology engineer examinations, development or AI-related certifications, or project management certifications such as PMP
- Preferred: project lead experience, development experience with AI or machine learning, and knowledge of manufacturing operations or accounting
Why Apply
- Become a future core member in an environment that actively embraces AI and AI-assisted development
- Work at the point where manufacturing and IT meet in the semiconductor industry
- Take part in international projects that include overseas sites
- Drive business digitalisation and operational transformation, not only system maintenance
- Benefit from a remote work system and flexible working hours (full remote work is not planned)
- Work at the Tokyo head office, with site-based work considered on request
