Questions about these roles
Do I need Japanese for these roles?
Less often than in other functions. Many technology teams at foreign-owned companies in Japan work in English, with Japanese needed for user-facing or vendor-facing roles. Each advert states the level required.
Are these in-house or consulting roles?
Both. The list includes in-house teams at financial, pharmaceutical and manufacturing companies, and delivery roles at consulting and IT services firms.
Can I apply from outside Japan?
You can, and some clients sponsor visas for senior technical hires. Most prefer candidates already in Japan, and the advert says which.
How current is this list?
